Emulsi Support

Emulsi is a film-inspired camera for iPhone. It lets you preview film looks live, capture processed photos, create custom film recipes, and keep your shots in a private on-device Gallery.

Getting Started

Open Emulsi and allow camera access when prompted. Choose a film from the bottom of the camera interface, select your preferred lens and aspect ratio, then press the shutter button to capture a photo.

Your processed photo is automatically added to the Emulsi Gallery.

Built-in Films

Emulsi includes five original film personalities:

  • D200 — Daily 200: Natural and balanced for everyday photography.
  • P400 — Portrait 400: Softer contrast and warmer skin tones.
  • C100 — Chrome 100: Rich colors, deep blacks, and stronger contrast.
  • N800 — Night 800: Designed for low-light scenes with visible grain and atmospheric highlights.
  • M1600 — Mono 1600: High-contrast monochrome with pronounced grain.

You can also create and save your own custom film recipes.

Gallery

Photos captured with Emulsi are stored in the app's local Gallery.

The Gallery remains available after you close or restart the app. From the photo viewer, you can browse previous shots, save a photo to Apple Photos, share it, or remove it from Emulsi.

Deleting a photo from the Emulsi Gallery does not delete a copy that has already been saved to Apple Photos.

Auto Save

When Auto Save to Photos is enabled, Emulsi automatically saves processed captures to your Apple Photos library.

When Auto Save is disabled, photos are still stored in the Emulsi Gallery and can be saved manually later.

Camera and Photos Permissions

Emulsi requires camera access to capture photos.

Photo Library Add access is only used when Emulsi saves a processed image to your Photos library. Emulsi does not require access to browse or read your existing photo library.

You can manage permissions at any time in:

iPhone Settings → Apps → Emulsi

Troubleshooting

If the camera preview does not appear, confirm that camera permission is enabled for Emulsi and reopen the app.

If a photo cannot be saved to Photos, confirm that Emulsi has permission to add photos.

If the camera becomes unavailable after switching apps or locking your iPhone, reopen Emulsi. The camera session should resume automatically.

Privacy

Emulsi processes photos directly on your iPhone. The app does not require an account and does not include advertising, analytics, tracking, or external image-processing services.

For more information, see the Emulsi Privacy Policy.
